Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look and installing the Hopkins 4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness on 2022 Subaru Outback. Now many accessories today, like your cargo carriers or bike racks will have lights built into them, and that way if they're blocking the view of the lights of your vehicle people can still see what you're doing, and that's gonna be accomplished by a 4-pole wiring harness. Now this is also gonna work with your small trailers that have 4-pole. That way when you turn on your headlights, you'll have the lights on the trailer working as well as your turn signals and brake signals. Now the great part about this one is you're not having to run a power wire up to the battery, and it lives inside the vehicle when you're not using it. more

Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Hopkins trailer wiring harness here on a 2017 Subaru Outback. A trailer wiring harness is gonna be required to tow a trailer here with your Outback. In addition to this, we're going to need a trailer hitch as well as a ball mount/hitch ball. All of which we carry here at etrailer. So to simply put, a trailer wiring harness is gonna transfer these signals from our vehicle to our trailer so we can let other motorists out on the road know what signals we're gonna be or making allowing us to ride to our destination safe and sound. So this is not only a legal requirement in pretty much every state, but a lot of the time, some of our trailers especially in the camping trailers are actually gonna block the tail lights on the vehicle. more

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.Today on our 2020 Subaru Outback wagon, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness. So what I really like about this setup is that your wiring isn't going to be visible or out in the elements whenever you're not using it, but it's not going to be a big hassle whenever you are ready. All you're going to have to do is open up your hatch, open up your storage compartment here, and pull your wiring out.Now, how this is going to work, is you're just going to drape it over your threshold here. Any part of the threshold is fine, with one exception. You want to do your best to avoid the latch because if the wiring gets pinched in there, it could potentially get damaged. But that being said, you'll close your hatch and then you're ready to plug into your trailer or maybe even your light up accessories.With these newer cars, the factory electronics can be really sensitive, so it's important to keep them protected. more

So, what I think is really cool about this set up is whenever you're not using the wiring it's going to be out of sight and out of the weather. This can be really easy whenever you are ready to hook up to your trailer or maybe even a light-up hitch mount accessory.All you're going to have to do is open up your hatch, flip open your floor covering, and take your wiring out of storage. So, the way this is going to work is it's simply just going to drape over your threshold here. You can drape it over anywhere you want or in one spot. more

Hopkins Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
And this is what your wiring harness looks like when it's installed. It normally stays inside the vehicle, but when you're ready to use it it drapes down over the back. It provides you with all the necessary lighting signals you'll need to keep you DOD compliant in all states which includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps. When you're all done using your wiring it'll store inside your Subaru.We'll open it up and here on the inside, you could see that when we we're using it was smashed between our weatherstripping here, which is perfectly fine. It actually keeps our wiring in place, but it doesn't cause any damage to it. Here we have the module for our wiring harness. more

Today in our 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector.Here's what our wiring's going to look like once we have it installed. It is designed to stay on the inside of the vehicle until we're ready to use it.Once we want to, we simply drop it out the rear hatch, making sure that we stay away from the latch mechanism. We can go ahead and shut the hatch, and the weather stripping here is going to provide enough cushion that it won't damage the wire. As you can see, we'll have plenty of wire to hook up to our trailer.Our wiring's going to give us a 4-Pole flat trailer connector, and all the lights we need to get down the road safely, like our tail light signals, turn signals, and our brake lights.Our wiring does have a converter box, so it's going to take the signal from our Subaru and convert it into a working signal for our trailer. But it's also going to protect our car from any kind of back beating or any problems that may arise from the trailer end.As far as installation goes, our wiring's going to be extremely straightforward. We're not going to have to cut, splice or tap into our vehicle's wiring at all. more

And that's going to be part number 118467.So here's what our wiring's going to look like. It's going to provide us with a 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, and it's going to give us all the required lights to get our trailer safely down the road, such as our tail lights, turn signals, and our brake lights. Whenever we are ready to tow, we're just going to drop it out the back of the hatch and it'll be right by our trailer hitch ready to hook up. And the reason being is because our wiring is going to live on the inside of our Outback at all times. The benefit of that is that it is going to be protected from the elements and we're not going to have to worry about any kind of corrosion or anything building up on the inside of our connector. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt T-Connector vehicle wiring harness with a four pole flat trailer connector, part number C56040. Our wiring kit is designed to stay on the inside of the vehicle at all times, and it is going to be easily stored right by our spare tire tools. Now whenever we are ready to use it, we can simply pull it out, drop our wire down, and as long as we stay away from the latch mechanism, our wire will be completely safe for us to close the hatch.Our wires have provided us with a four pole flat trailer connector that's going to give us all the required lights to get down the road safely and securely, including our running lights, turn signals, and our brake lights. As you can see, we'll have plenty of wire to drop it out and connect up to our trailer. Our wiring kit is going to include a dust cover to keep all that dirt, debris, and anything else out of the connector preventing corrosion. And when we store it, we can actually use it to wrap around the wire and keep everything in a nice little bundle.Our wiring kit is going to be a plug and play installation. more

That's gonna be part number HM11143885.So our wiring is gonna stay on the inside of our vehicle at all times until we're ready to use it. We have ours stored down here by our spare tire tools. Whenever we get ready to use it, we could simply drop it out right by our hitch. The weather stripping is gonna provide enough cushion for our wire to where it won't get damaged, provided that we stay away from the actual latch itself.Keep in mind that our wire's not gonna be the longest, but it should be long enough to reach up and hook up to our trailer. Today on our 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be taking a look at, and also showing you how to install, the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with the four full flat trailer connector, part number is HM11143865. Now, Hopkins Plug-In Simple Custom Fit Wiring is going to give us a four full trailer connection at the rear of our vehicle, which is going to be excellent to use for your small trailers and cargo carriers, things like that. Now, this plug delivers right turn and brake, left turn and brake, tail light signal, and also ground. The way it's going to connect to our vehicle is really quite simple. We've got an 8 Pin connector, and this is going to plug right into a connector that already exists on your Subaru. It's not going to take any modifications or any vehicle changes really at all to get this installed. Here in the middle you're going to see our convertor box. more

Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. Part number is C56040. Now when we're ready to use our wiring we can simply bring it back and see nice cushioning there, it's going to protect our wire, pull out whatever length we need to connect to our trailer. When not in use, put our dust cover around it there, and what I like to do is just kind of bundle my wiring up, bring that around, secure it off, and we can put the rest of our trays back in place. Now this is what our wiring kit is going to look like when we pull it out of the package. That's what we're after there, that's going to be our standard 4-Pole trailer connector. This will allow us to connect to a trailer, maybe a cargo carrier, it's going to give us our right turn and brake, left turn and brake, our running lights, and our ground. Now to deliver that signal to the trailer, we've got out converter box. more
